Renewal of Faith Parish Mission 2014

Sunday 12th– Saturday 18th October

Pope Francis said,“The mission of the church is to heal wounds and warm the hearts of people”

Programme of Events

  • Daily Talks at Midday followed by Mass and refreshments
  • Evening Sessions weekdays at 7.30pm
  • Confessions at 7.30 Monday

Dear Parishioner,

Very soon we will be holding one of the big events in our Parish calendar, the Parish Mission.

Each evening during the week Sunday 12th to Saturday 18th of October there will be a session exploring and celebrating the beauty of the Catholic faith.

Maybe you come to Church, even on a regular basis, but still feel that your faith is not as deep as it could be. This week will be a wonderful opportunity for you to strengthen your faith and rekindle the flame.

Perhaps you know others; family or friends, who may have lost contact with the Church or who struggle with faith. This mission is for everybody. No matter how long a person has been away from the Church, they can always come home.

Each weekday evening session lasts just one hour (7.30pm to 8.30pm) and everyone is welcome; bring your whole family, invite your friends and neighbours. Spread the word!

In this busy world all of us need time and space to think again about the bigger questions. Many parish activities have been suspended during the mission week to give everyone a chance to attend the sessions.

This experience could change your life; don’t miss this opportunity!

With prayers for you and your family,

Fr Dan.

What is a Mission?

For those who can remember past missions perhaps the words “hellfire and damnation” may spring to mind (with some good old pulpit thumping thrown in for added effect!)   Perhaps memories of packed congregations; a mission priest ‘putting the fear of God’ into you.

We are sure it won’t come as too much of a surprise to you to hear that missions have changed a little.

A mission can mean many things:

  • It is an opportunity for renewal in going the soul’s way
  • A chance to learn more about Christ and the values of the Kingdom he spoke of
  • A call to commitment
  • A reminder of our need for continual conversion
  • A chance to build up the parish community
  • A celebration of faith

Seven Days of Events and Services in Joyful Celebration

  • The aims of our Mission Renewal of Faith Mission 2014 on 12th-18th October 2014 are:
  1. Build community
  2. Strengthen faith
  3. Give witness to that faith
  4. And encourage each believer
  5. To be a flicker of light in the world

Always remembering that

There is no community without commitment
